Picasa Web adds Face tagging 7:45 PM

If you're a regular user of Picasa, you may have overlooked a newly-released feature of Picasa Web Albums.  After you've marked and uploaded pictures to a web album, surf on over to Picasa's web site.  From there, look for the People tab and click it.  Once there, you can look for the face tagging section on the right, and go through the process of identifying faces.  For my albums, I had about 1300 faces that were identified in about 5 minutes or so.

After that, you start the identification process - which basically links identified faces to your Google account contacts.  You can create a contact without any special information, just a name will do.  You can also identify faces that weren't automatically found by Picasa.

After about two hours, I successfully identified about 1100 of 1350 "faces".  Approximately 222 of the 1350 were either not faces (very few) or just people I didn't care to identify (very many).  You can share the name tags (make public), share some album's names, or share none.  Right now, I've left mine as public.  Head on over and check it out.  Maybe you'll find yourself!
@brlittle RE: chrome beta. Yeah, it doesn't surprise me that it was beta. just didn't notice the logo, nor was there much talk about it.
@brlittle RE: Left 4 Dead. Hadn't heard of it, but I'm a fan of most of Valve's stuff. Dunno about 360 v. PC... probably 360.
@binkman007 I dunno about that. In my personal experience, Chrome *is* faster than IE and FF.
Andy RE: Google Chrome: Interesting thus far. Need some plugins like Greasemonkey, Firebug, and Adblock. Otherwise, seems good.

Wow. 2 hours into tagging faces in Picasa web. Only 300 left -- but I'm tired already.

Having fun playing around with Picasa's Face Tagging feature. It's pretty nifty.

@brlittle also, "first release" doesn't mean it isn't production worthy... at least they didn't put it out as beta first, right?
@brlittle Yeah, but no sense in just ignoring it. I'm using it hardcore for the next few days.
@eddieawad I'm going to try using Chrome exclusively for the next few days and see how I fare. If not, then 'Fox stays.
I like dragging tabs between Chrome windows!

Chrome certainly is fast. Compare just the character count on the Twitter page as I type...

Maya says interesting things 8:38 AM

This morning I was getting Maya dressed for school. As we were putting her shirt on I said, "Are you ready for school?"

She replied, "Maya wants to get some breakfast first."

"That's fine, we'll get some breakfast before school," I answered.

Maya responds with, "Breakfast, thank God!"

----

Occasionally, Maya will refer to Stephanie as 'Mom' and myself as 'Dad'. Apparently she's decided to act like she's 13 already.

----

Also this morning, I was asking Maya how she slept, and she answered with, "Friday, we see Varelie!" FYI: Varelie is Aunt Valerie. So, Varelie, your plans for Friday have apparently been made.
@jpabian any success with your wii hack?

Movie - The Queen

After Princess Diana's shocking death, Queen Elizabeth II (Helen Mirren, in an Oscar-winning role) and Tony Blair (Michael Sheen) engage in intimate talks as Britain demands the princess be memorialized in a manner beyond standard protocol. This Oscar-nominated drama for Best Picture goes behind the scenes as the queen and prime minister try to manage Diana's death on a personal level while also dealing with a public calling for royal treatment for their beloved princess.

Movie - Ghost Rider

In this hell-on-wheels thriller, Nicolas Cage stars as Johnny Blaze, a badass stunt cyclist who makes a Faustian bargain with the sinister Mephisto (Peter Fonda) to save a loved one. Years later, he offers Johnny the chance to reclaim his soul by vanquishing Blackheart (Wes Bentley) -- Mephisto's archenemy and son, who's scheming to depose his pop. The supporting cast includes Eva Mendes, Sam Elliott and Donal Logue.
